But what the heck are those lines? Cobwebs? No, these are the TCA lines that cross the area.
To be honest, I have dreamed of visualizing the TCA line system for quite a while. The only problem was that there wasn't really a way to do so. Plot them on a map? Those good maps are so terribly expensive that you refrain from doing so. Flight planners did display only one line at a time. But then came Ted Wright with Version 3.0 of his NAV flight planner. And that one had Jet and Victor airways for the whole U.S. included. There was only a short investigation needed and I knew how to do it. It's actually plain simple. How to use it? That's even more simple. Copy the files into your NAV directory and load NAV. That's about all there is to do.
My present to you is the TCA line schedule for NAV V3.0. It is not yet complete and it is not yet updated to the new winter schedule. But I thought it is better to release it now and update it later than to wait until it is finished (maybe never will). Btw. this is not meant as a competition to King Ingersoll's TCA Routes tool. We do not compete here within the TCA family.
Here you can find the TCA lines in NAV V3.0 format. NAV is one of those great freeware scenery viewers/flight planners. In fact it was one of the first. And the author Ted Wright always kept it public domain. The current version 3.0 was released some time ago. A link to where you can find the files for download is in the link section.
The NAV V3.0 pln files are actually a byproduct of the RC99 project. Why? Francesco has been using NAV V3.0 to create the flight plans for conversion into RC99 adventure input files. As you may or may not know RC99 does not have its inbuilt flight planner but depends on an external one.
Usage is actually simple and straight forward. Just open the Flight Plan window within NAV. Then select File and Open and then one of the pln files which are listed. That's it. Details are explained in the Readme file which is part of every package.
Below you can find the files that are currently available for download. Please note that I have taken the freedom to assemble packages according to service and region. I didn't want to make a zip archive for every line. As the flight plans are very small in size this shouldn't be a problem. Flight plans are based on the revision indicated in brackets (Rev xxxx). My intention is to update all sections to the latest revision asap.
